Service Students

Our Vision: A school that provides stability, emotional wellbeing and academic continuity for Service children.

Welcome Service students

At Trafalgar School, Downton, we warmly welcome our service families and celebrate the important role they play in our community. We understand that military life can bring unique challenges, and we are committed to supporting your children every step of the way.

From tailored pastoral care to enrichment opportunities, we ensure that service children feel secure, valued, and ready to thrive. Our staff work closely with families to provide stability, encouragement, and a strong sense of belonging.

We are proud to serve and support the children of the military.  We are committed to ensuring every child feels valued, understood and supported.  Thanks to the support of the Armed Forces Education Trust, we have embarked on a campaign to increase the profile of our Service Children and evaluate the opportunities that we offer and the support that they may require.

Our dedicated provision for Service Children currently includes:

  • Pastoral care and wellbeing support tailored to the needs of military families.

  • Academic guidance and mentoring to help students thrive despite transitions.

  • Practical initiatives such as mock interviews, mentoring programmes and enrichment activities designed to build confidence and resilience.

We believe that by working closely with parents, carers and the wider military community, we can provide a safe, nurturing environment where every child has the opportunity to achieve great outcomes.

What we currently offer:

  • In school counselling with Emma Lawson.

  • Pastoral support through the Tutor and Head of Year

  • Homework extenuating list.

  • Military awareness in our weekly themes and Big Question.

Deployment can be a particularly difficult time for all those that remain at home.  Deployment does not necessarily refer to a six month campaign but can also be an prolonged exercise or even weekending.

Please access our deployment pack for further information.

To enable us to support your child through this separation we kindly ask that you update us by completing the deployment form
